Position: Warehouse Dispatch Location: Richmond, VA Compensation: $20-24/Hour, Based on Experience Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 4:30pm
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Warehouse Dispatch is generally responsible for organizing logistics activities and ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of products. This position will require daily interaction with customers and active support of other warehouse employees counting, verifying, and receiving incoming vendor shipments and customer return material; for stocking and maintaining the warehouse; and for picking, documenting and packing customer orders.
JOB TASKS / FUNCTIONS
Communicate daily with customers and provide outstanding customer support.
Communicates with carriers/drivers and warehouse/office personnel regarding shipment and receipt of product
Assists in the scheduling of all local and out of state product shipments and quick shift (within two hour) deliveries
Upon receipt of vendor shipment or customer return, obtain the packing slip and count and verify material received. Note received quantities and all shipping discrepancies (overshipments, undershipments, mis-shipments, damage/shorted freight claim) on the packaging slip.
Print and verify the computer receiving documents and receive material in the system or, when applicable, forward the receiving documents to the office personnel for data entry.
Identify nonstock, special order material and damaged material and store in proper warehouse locations.
Note all shipping discrepancies on freight carrier’s Bill of Lading; initiate freight claims with freight carriers or forward appropriate paperwork to designated employee. Pick material for orders, note quantities picked on the shipping document, assemble and package the materials for shipment/pick up.
Complete necessary documentation for customer shipments delivered via third-party carrier.
Load and unload trucks, operate warehouse forklift and other material handling equipment.
Perform all job functions in accordance with the company’s Safety Standards
Assist Co-workers in servicing customers
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong customer service and communication skills
Strong Knowledge of plumbing & pipe
Strong Knowledge of volume, cubes, and weight for configuring loads
Ability to learn to safely operate a forklift and other material handling equipment
Read, write, speak, and understand English
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
HS Diploma, GED or equivalent
1-year Logistics Experience
Innovo Software Experience (or similar scheduling software)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regularly required to stand; use hands and fingers in a repetitive motion. Frequently required to stand, walk and reach above the head. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear. The employee is required to lift up to Fifty (50) lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus. The noise level in the work environment ranges from normal office levels to loud factory / warehouse levels.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Ability to work in outdoor weather, warehouses with no climate control, potentially hazardous equipment (such as forklift trucks, mechanical lift gates, hand tools, manual material handling equipment, and rubber retention straps).
You may be required to handle hazardous materials such as PVC pipe cement, pool chemicals, torch gas, propane gas, solvents, etc…
