Job Description

Structural Engineer
  • Location: Lisle IL or Houston TX
  • Format: HYBRID with 3 days in office each week
  • Travel: 40 to 50 percent to client sites across the United States
  • Comp Target: $130,000 base plus annual bonus of 4 to 5 percent
  • Paid Overtime: Straight time rate for 10 to 15 percent additional hours
  • Retirement: 401K with 4 percent match starting first of the month after 30 days
  • Insurance: BCBS starting first of the month after 30 days
A leading engineering procurement and construction organization is seeking a structural engineer with strong industrial project experience. This team supports complex client sites throughout the United States and needs an experienced structural engineer who is comfortable with both office analysis work and consistent travel for site assessments.
The role is straightforward but requires a candidate with the correct title and credentials. Civil titles are not accepted for this position. The team requires an active professional engineer license. The client is clear that they will only accept candidates with an active professional engineer license.
Local candidates in Lisle IL or Houston TX are preferred. The position is structured as a HYBRID schedule with 3 days in office each week.
Role SummaryThis position performs structural evaluation, analysis, design, reporting, and client support for varied industrial facilities. Work includes investigation of existing structures, development of rehabilitation or replacement plans, analytical modeling, and close interaction with senior engineering leadership.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support field evaluation of existing industrial structures
  • Perform walkdowns and field assessments to document conditions
  • Develop rehabilitation and replacement plans based on site findings
  • Create specifications and prepare detailed technical reports
  • Provide technical support and quality control for structural construction activity
  • Engage with clients for coordination, proposals, and scope development
  • Perform analytical modeling and calculations for steel and concrete structures
  • Work under licensed structural engineers while advancing technical development
  • Conduct site visits across varied industrial environments
Required Background
  • Bachelor of Science in civil or structural engineering
  • 5 plus years structural engineering experience in an industrial setting
  • Active professional engineer license required
  • Experience with STAAD or similar modeling tools
  • Knowledge of ACI 318, AISC, ASCE 7 and IBC
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Ability to travel 40 percent to client locations
