Sourcing Specialist

General Overview:

Our client, a local furniture manufacturer, is seeking a sourcing specialist to join the team! This position with a local "true to craft" commercial furniture manufacturer will be full-time and directly hired to the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • New Product Sourcing:
    • Identify and vet potential suppliers by researching availability of parts, equipment, machinery, services, and materials.
    • Support various departments including Marketing, R&D, Finance, Service, and Quality during all phases of product development.
    • Collaborate with Engineering to explore new materials and vendors for cost efficiency and innovative product designs.
    • Participate in supplier evaluations including bid analysis, cost assessment, price justifications, and risk management.

  • Sourcing Disruption Risk Mitigation:
    • Investigate and address historical supply chain disruptions, focusing on lead times, supplier stability, quality issues, and cost increases.
    • Source alternative suppliers for critical components, prioritizing high-risk areas.
    • Aid in the evaluation and validation process for alternative suppliers to ensure part viability.

  • Inventory Management:
    • Monitor and analyze incoming freight costs, particularly for overseas shipments.
    • Evaluate inventory processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency, including management of slow-moving inventory.
    • Adjust reorder points and quantities in our systems based on recent trends and supplier lead times.
    • Lead initiatives to update supplier lead times in our systems for enhanced data accuracy.

  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Support the Purchasing and Operations teams with additional projects as needed.

What We Require:
  • At least 3 years of experience in purchasing or sourcing.
  • Proficiency in MRP software and understanding of BOM structures.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
