Our client, a local furniture manufacturer, is seeking a sourcing specialist to join the team! This position with a local "true to craft" commercial furniture manufacturer will be full-time and directly hired to the company.
Key Responsibilities:
New Product Sourcing:
Identify and vet potential suppliers by researching availability of parts, equipment, machinery, services, and materials.
Support various departments including Marketing, R&D, Finance, Service, and Quality during all phases of product development.
Collaborate with Engineering to explore new materials and vendors for cost efficiency and innovative product designs.
Participate in supplier evaluations including bid analysis, cost assessment, price justifications, and risk management.
Sourcing Disruption Risk Mitigation:
Investigate and address historical supply chain disruptions, focusing on lead times, supplier stability, quality issues, and cost increases.
Source alternative suppliers for critical components, prioritizing high-risk areas.
Aid in the evaluation and validation process for alternative suppliers to ensure part viability.
Inventory Management:
Monitor and analyze incoming freight costs, particularly for overseas shipments.
Evaluate inventory processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency, including management of slow-moving inventory.
Adjust reorder points and quantities in our systems based on recent trends and supplier lead times.
Lead initiatives to update supplier lead times in our systems for enhanced data accuracy.
Additional Responsibilities:
Support the Purchasing and Operations teams with additional projects as needed.
What We Require:
At least 3 years of experience in purchasing or sourcing.
Proficiency in MRP software and understanding of BOM structures.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong negotiation skills.
