Job Description

The Controls Software Project Engineer will provide technical support for the design, development,and implementation of automated manufacturing systems. This individual will be responsible for the technical engineering components of the quote, design, build, and so that the project meetsspecifications and complies with customer expectations. CSPE is responsible for controls software projects from inception through delivery and installation and coordinates with other disciplines to ensure an integrated design meeting the project requirements. Main Tasks and ResponsibilitiesJob Summary
  1. Develop and maintain detailed project schedules.
  2. Monitor cost and commitment.
  3. Ensure adherence to quality standards.
  4. Participate and coordinate project progress review meetings.
  5. Assure hardware, fluid power, and software designs meet customer requirements and specifications.
  6. Creates and maintains software revision.
  7. Meets requirements of all controls engineering budgets.
  8. Shared responsibility with Controls Management for performance to budget and timing of the
control project phase.
  1. Serve as an interface between the Control Engineering Team with both Project Management/ Engineer and the customer.
  2. Responsible for the completeness of control design.
  3. Responsible for effective handoff and template design.
  4. Support Manufacturing and Service.
  5. Aid the customer and improve customer satisfaction.
  6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
 Competency Language Skills
  1. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  2. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  3. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
  1. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and
fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  1. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
  1. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  2. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  Supervisory Skills Able to lead a team of Software engineers locally and remotely on project specific tasks. Education, training and experience 
  1. Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.E.E.) from four-year College or university.
  2. 10 years related experience and/or training.
  3. Several years of software experience with Rockwell and/or Siemens PLC and HMI platforms, or
  4. related controls engineering role.
  5. Experience interfacing with Fanuc and/or ABB robots, hands-on robotic programming and/or debug experience is preferred.
  6. Motion Controls experience with different types of Servo Drives and Variable Frequency Drives.
  7. Industrial Networks experience such as Ethernet I/P, Profibus, Profinet, Remote I/O.
  8. Some plant floor experience required.
  9. Experience interfacing with Cognex and/or Keyence vision systems, hands-on vision setup experience is preferred.
  10. Organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, with strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  11. Expert knowledge in PLCs.
  12. Excellent computer skills (i.e., Lotus Notes, MS Office, ACAD, Windows).
  13. 3 to 5 years in an engineering leadership position.
  14. Understanding of Machine Design
 Position Type Full time, travel as needed.  Work Environment The work environment, temperature noise level, inside or outside, or other factors that will affect the persons working conditions while performing the job.  Any regulatory statements required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanicalparts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places;outside weather conditions; and vibration.
