Screw Machine Operator - 1st Shift Location: St. Clair, MI Pay: $19 - $21 Shift: Mon - Thurs, 6:00AM - 4:30AM Type: Temp to Perm Are you ready to bring your precision, expertise, and problem-solving skills to a company that values craftsmanship and quality? Our client is actively seeking skilled Screw Machine Operators who thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Responsibilities:Machine Setup and Operation:
Prepare machines for operation by installing and adjusting tools, gears, and components.
Set cutting speeds, feed rates, and tool positions for optimal machining.
Operate machinery, monitor performance, and make necessary adjustments to ensure precision.
Quality Assurance:
Inspect first-run and sample workpieces to verify accuracy using precision measuring tools.
Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and sharpening of tools.
Utilize statistical process control techniques to maintain production quality.
Blueprint and Measurement:
Read and interpret blueprints and layouts to understand machining requirements and permissible tolerances.
Use gauges and other measuring instruments to ensure parts meet specifications.
Collaboration and Problem-Solving:
Interact with supervisors and engineering staff to troubleshoot and improve processes.
Train and assist other workers as needed.
Recordkeeping and Housekeeping:Maintain production records and ensure a clean, organized workspace using 5S methods. Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
Minimum of two years of factory-related experience preferred.
Minimum of two years prior experience with Acme Gridley screw machines required.
Skills:
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, safety rules, and instructions.
Basic understanding of algebra, geometry, and shop math.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 10-50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as kneeling, stooping, and using hands/fingers frequently.
Visual and auditory acuity for precision work.
