We are currently engaged in a search on behalf of our client for a Safety Specialist to support two industrial manufacturing facilities within a short travel radius. This individual will take the lead on all safety-related programs and compliance efforts, driving a proactive safety culture across both sites. The role is hands-on and visible, with ownership over audits, training, investigations, and process improvements. Travel between the two locations is minimal and managed on a regular schedule. Key Responsibilities
Maintain compliance with OSHA and other applicable safety regulations
Deliver safety orientation for new hires and ongoing training for current employees
Lead investigations for all incidents, accidents, and near-misses; develop and implement corrective actions
Conduct regular site audits and inspections, ensuring all equipment and safety systems are compliant
Manage and update all site SOPs and safety documentation
Coordinate and lead monthly safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety committee functions
Maintain OSHA 300 logs and manage workers’ comp claims and follow-ups
Oversee fire extinguisher checks, signage compliance, and CDL certification tracking
Monitor road and rail safety standards in accordance with ODOT regulations
Analyze incident data to identify trends and implement preventive measures
Foster communication between management and employees to reinforce safety expectations
Support general EHS documentation and regulatory reporting as required
Perform other duties as directed by management
Ideal Candidate ProfileExperience & Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related technical field
2–3 years of safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of OSHA standards and general workplace safety practices
Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Comfortable leading training and conducting field audits
Strengths & Competencies:
Strong verbal and written communication
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Able to manage priorities independently across two sites
Analytical thinker with the ability to assess risk and recommend improvements
