Job Description

RISK MANAGER  The Risk Manager will serve as a leader for the Risk area of the Credit Union, working closely and coordinating efforts within department and team across all business lines. This role is responsible for facilitating the risk program through continued monitoring, analytics, and reporting of key risk indicators (KRI’s), risk limits and risk triggers to various stakeholders, including (but not limited to): business unit leaders and the Executive Leadership Team. In addition, this role is responsible to lead the risk projects, including identification, assessment and mitigation of risks and overall management of timelines and deliverables.  Additionally, this role will be key in the coordination, review, and implementation plan overview of risk and product implementations.
 JOB  / FUNCTIONS:  
  • Oversee, lead, and manage the risk strategic plan, including facilitating, compilation, and assessment of input from relevant departments during strategic planning period, tracking and monitoring of risk strategic plan goals and objectives throughout the year and escalating any areas of concern.
  • Create the Risk budget, including facilitating, compilation, and assessment of input
     during budgeting season, tracking, and monitoring of budget versus final plan throughout the year.
  • Lead the process of analysis, tracking, monitoring, identification, and escalation of risks across the credit union.
  • Oversee review of Risk policies, programs, and other governance documents to ensure alignment, consistency, both between risk programs, but also with strategic objectives, risk appetite, and maturity evolution.
  • Lead and create the ongoing evolution, implementation, key risk indicators, monitoring, and management of the risk appetite statement, reporting and metrics, in collaboration with leadership, ensuring it reflects the organizations risk tolerance and strategic goals, including timely identification and assessment of emerging risks.
  • Oversight of the vendor management program, procedures, and risk analytics and cross functional collaboration with Information Security team management.
  • Monitor the risk appetite business processes, decision making and performance metrics. 
  • Facilitate risk program discussions, communications, and training. 
  • Work with all departments to research, analyze and review business intelligence reporting, including any trending, anomalies, or investigation and/or independent validation of potential issues.
  • Work with Director of Project Management, other teams and stakeholders, as appropriate, to assist in the risk assessment, tracking and monitoring of risk projects, including working with project teams to identify and evaluate potential risks and their potential impact in relation to risk appetite statement tolerance levels.
  • Facilitate and lead cross-functional meetings in one-on-one and group settings.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain risk mitigation strategies, procedures, policies, and controls to minimize exposure to all risk areas in the credit union.
  • Oversee Corporate Insurance program through the preparation of insurance renewals, applications and claims.
  • Support policy governance, issues management and risk assessment processes, including assisting in maintaining the policy repository, monitoring remediation plans for open compliance issues and contributing to the review and analysis of the results of the compliance risk assessment. Maintain and oversee complaint compliance program.
  • Responsible as the Asst. Chairperson of the ERM Committee. These responsibilities include coordinating risk items for review and preparing meeting agendas and materials.  Implement and maintain proper internal controls to mitigate risk and follow up on outstanding items to ensure completion.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of risk management methodologies, enterprise risk processes, tools, and practices, staying current with industry trends and best practices.
  • Provide training and support, as appropriate, to team members on risk awareness, written risk assessment and techniques on the importance of incorporating risk considerations into decision making processes.
  • Oversee and maintain physical security, incident response and business continuity programs.
  • Oversee the review of critical core systems access and maintenance reports to ensure access is appropriate and to review for anomalous behavioral patterns.
  • Assist the risk team areas with collaboration, reports, case investigations, dash boards, correlated activities, software configuration, case reviews, risk mitigation, legal matters, legal and regulatory compliance support.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive risk reports to leadership and the Board of Directors, highlighting key risk exposure and mitigation efforts.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge of Credit Union internal controls, compliance, laws, regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all non-public data and uphold the financial integrity of the Credit Union.
  • Advise Director of Enterprise Risk Management of situations that could pose a threat, risk, or loss to the Credit Union.
  • Establish and maintain productive and effective working relationships with the team, departments, managers, and vendors; provide friendly and prompt internal and external service.
  • Recommends candidates for employment, conducts performance evaluations and salary reviews for assigned staff, and applies company policy.
  • Occasional travel to other Credit Union locations, Credit Union functions, and training facilities will be required.
  • Acts as back up for Director Enterprise Risk and performs other duties and tasks as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor.
  • Will comply with all Bank Secrecy and OFAC requirements as outlined in policies and procedures.
 REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Four-year Business Degree required.
  • Five (5) or more years financial institution experience
     required. 
  • Minimum four years (4) experience in a risk focus capacity (risk management, ERM, operations, audit, and/or compliance) or related field or similar experience required.
  • Must be Bondable.
  • ERM / Risk Management certification preferred
