RETAINING WALL BUILDER - DIRECT HIRE POSITION!
Are you an experienced retaining wall builder? Our client is an expert structural wall and brick installer for commercial and residential clients. They are looking for dedicated employees to join their team. This is a DIRECT HIRE position with full benefits after 90-days. The home office is located in Flint and some travel to client worksites may be required. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 6:00 pm (40-50 hrs per week) during peak season and Saturday hours as needed. Hours may be reduced in winter based on needs. Overtime may be required as workload dictates. Pay rate $18.00-$25.00 per hour based on experience.

Position Summary:Responsible for operating equipment and performing labor and tasks necessary for the installation of retaining walls ensuring quality which meets or exceeds our customer expectations. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates equipment (skid steer, excavator, compactor, etc.) necessary to build retaining walls.
- Digs trench using excavator or hand tools.
- Installs fabric and other material necessary in building retaining walls.
- Shoots grades with a transit.
- Loads and unloads materials and supplies (requires lifting more than fifty pounds or more).
- Cleaning, Chaining, and Rigging block to be installed
- Uses hand tools such as saws, wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes, picks, brooms, etc.
- Ensures daily maintenance of tools and equipment (cleaning, sharpening, greasing, fueling, etc.)
- Completes cleanup of work site.
- Always follows company safety policies and procedures.
- Work is primarily outdoors during all seasons.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including inclement weather (rain, snow, heat or cold).
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Hearing protection is required for duties such as equipment operation that expose the individual to elevated noise levels.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual will demonstrate and perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The ability to effectively communicate and interact, in a positive manner, with all Company personnel, regulatory agencies, customers, consultants and other contractor personnel is necessary.
- Previous experience with retaining wall installation is preferred.
- Operating equipment (loader, skid steer, excavator, etc.) is preferred.
- Ability to read landscape plans and blueprints.
- Ability to read grades and elevations.
- Must be able to communicate and manage time effectively.
- Stands and walks for extended periods of time throughout the day.
- Squat, stoop, bend or kneel and lift objects from ground frequently.
- Full extension of arms above head and in front of body.
- Consistently lifts weight of up to fifty pounds.
- Occasionally carries and pushes/pulls weights more than fifty pounds.
- Fine motor skills required for use of small equipment and hand tools.
