Job Title: Quality Control Technician
Reports To: Production Manager and/or Quality Manager
Department: Quality ControlPay:$17-$19/hr.Job Summary:The Quality Control Technician is responsible for the mechanical inspection of incoming and outgoing products or materials, ensuring adherence to established quality control procedures. This position requires performing inspections, testing, and documenting results while maintaining strict adherence to quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Measurement of Products: Perform dimensional measurements on products during in-process and final inspections to ensure compliance with specifications, following established procedures.
  • Blueprint Reading: Understand and interpret blueprints and work orders, verifying specified materials and dimensions.
  • Inspection Equipment: Utilize various inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, Tri-check gages, Sunnen Bore gages, pin gages, height gages, microscopes, comparators, and coordinate measuring machines.
  • Finish Checks: Inspect finishes with comparison gages, scribes, or a profilometer to ensure the production of the specified surface finish.
  • Visual Inspection: Conduct visual inspections to ensure products meet customer specifications and appearance.
  • Mathematical Applications: Determine dimensions not specified in blueprints using knowledge of math techniques and concepts.
  • Hardness Testing: Test the hardness of workpiece surfaces using a hardness testing machine.
  • Floor Checks: Perform random and periodic checks at the machine to ensure that quality standards are met.
  • Documentation: Document instances of rejected products or raw materials.
  • Co-Worker Training: Provide training to colleagues in quality control concepts as needed.
  • Adherence to Policies: Follow company policies and procedures, especially in relation to safety regulations.
  • Incident Notification: Report product discrepancies, equipment malfunctions, and personal injuries to management.
  • Other Duties: Perform any other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Specialized Training:
  • Prior experience in a related industry is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Oral Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with team members and management.
  • Written Communication Skills: Ability to document findings clearly and effectively.
  • Blueprint Reading: Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Customer Service: Ability to assist and address customer needs.
  • Math Aptitude: Strong understanding of basic mathematics including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to maintain order and follow procedures efficiently.
  • Professionalism: Display a high level of professionalism in all interactions.
  • Time Management: Effectively manage time to meet deadlines.
  • Computer Literacy: Proficient in using inspection software and basic computer applications.
  • Basic GDT Principles: Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT) principles.
Language Ability:
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural manuals. Must be able to speak effectively before customers or employees of the organization.
Math Ability:
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and interpret data using rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to apply logical thinking to carry out instructions and solve problems involving variables in standardized situations.
Work Environment:
  • The work environment may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles.
  • The noise level is typically moderate.
Physical Demands:
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and communicate verbally.
  • Frequently required to stand and walk.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and perform tasks involving taste or smell.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and ability to distinguish colors.
