Salem, VA

Mon-Fri, 6:00AM-2:30PM

$18.00/Hour

Are you tired of working 12 hours a day and seeking an 8-hour day?  Our client in Salem, VA is seeking someone that wants to join their team.

Overview:

This position will be operating processing equipment for production of industrial, household, and feed grade bacterial products. Performance must include good manufacturing practices, safety, and compliance with all company procedures. 

Job Responsibilities: 
  • Comply with all departmental, site, and corporate safety, environmental, quality, and other policies, rules, and regulatory requirements
  • Measure and prepare raw materials for use in process equipment
  • Operate process equipment and process control computers according to standard operating procedures
  • Take production samples, analyze samples in the production laboratory, and take action based on obtained results
  • Complete run sheets, process orders, and other data sheets neatly and accurately, as required. Notify Manager of all errors, irregularities, equipment problems, etc.
  • Work safely and maintain neat and clean appearance in production area in accordance with good manufacturing practices and company standards. Observe site standards for personal hygiene.
  • Effectively work with other departments to meet plant and customer needs
  • Make recommendations for process improvement
  • Assist work teams in planning of batch flows and equipment utilization to avoid plant bottlenecks
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems as needed
  • Use the computer-based ERP database software to enter and retrieve product information
  • Clean equipment and facilities in accordance with good manufacturing practices and company standards
  • Participate in training and safety programs to consistently improve personal performance, quality, safety, work environment and the process
  • Demonstrate high degree of dedication to department goals and initiatives
  • Perform other duties as requested by Supervisor

Qualifications:
  • Schedule flexibility (ability to switch onto 2nd or 3rd shift) is an asset
  • High School diploma or GED with demonstrated math skills
  • Good computer skills (Office Suite, SAP preferred)
  • Must be able to wear PPE (including full-face respirator) when dealing with hazardous chemicals (acids/caustics, powders, etc.)
  • Relevant production experience is an asset
  • Ability to operate computers to complete all reports and data sheets accurately
  • Mobility to climb stairs, ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Forklift experience
