Laminations Process Engineer, Port Huron, MI. 

  • Direct Hire 

  • 80-120K ( Salary compensation based on experience) 

Our Port Huron area client, has engaged us in a search for a reliable Process Engineer( Lamination) who is able to work with attention to detail and within safety standard- to join their team. The Manufacturing Process Engineer will perform technical duties required to control material processes, to develop and modify processes for both new and existing products, machine efficiency, and quality and cost savings. Perform duties necessary to establish and monitor launching products and product development.

Duties:

Production Activity
  • Monitor manufacturing processes, using statistical techniques and accumulated expertise to keep processes on target and in control.
  • Train operators on how to conduct and document various in-process checks. 
  • Participate in preventive maintenance activities by monitoring machine systems for reducing downtime.
  • Review product quality attributes relative to customer specifications and expectations. 
  • Troubleshoot cases of nonconformance, identify root causes and lead corrective actions.
  • Maintain database documenting machine setup parameters for each product produced. 
  • Develop machine setup parameters for new products.
  • Generate process and product improvement ideas, design and lead trials to validate and lead through implementation.

Product Development/ECO Activity
  • Create and adjust machine setups for all development/launch class orders.
  • Monitor all development orders at Lamination, Inspection, Cut parts/TCD (if applicable) and provide feedback to relevant groups.
  • Based on feedback, work on optimizing the setups for subsequent runs.
  • Record and file lamination data and material.

Product Analysis and Reporting
  • Pre-production Support
  • Perform data collections as directed, for special projects pertaining to pre-production.
  • Execute Standard Lamination capability studies (SSL) and Customer Eye Reviews (CER) on new launching programs.
  • Utilize statistical software (JMP) to track launching programs for critical characteristics.
  • Understand and interpret (SSL/CER) data for potential process adjustments.
  • Monitor programs in 'launch' phase in relation to target work loss. 
  • Work with cross-functional teams to achieve work loss targets.
  • Publish weekly reports on work loss status for Launch-class programs and Dev programs.
  • Complete Launch to Production handover packages.

Pre-production Support
  • Support all pre-production orders through plant and ensure quality.
  • Ensure special testing activity is coordinated through the lab.
  • Participate in GP12 Early Launch containment, if required.
  • Be an expert team player-work well and collaborate with other departments to meet objectives
  • Complete tasks related to new product launches/ECOs generated by ECON system.
Requirements:
  • B.S. in Engineering (preferred) with good mechanical aptitude.
  • 3-5 years in manufacturing
  • Good computer skills (MS Office, especially Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of statistics and Statistical Process Control. 
  • Experience with statistical analysis programs (Minitab, JMP) a plus
  • Must be willing to work overtime and off-shift hours when necessary.
  • Must be able to understand directions/instructions. 
  • The ability to read, write and understand English 
  • Possess basic math skills including addition, subtraction, pision of fractions.
  • Able to work well with others.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs with assistance
  • Some overhead lifting is required
  • Previous experience in a factory environment or with moving machinery 
  • Working knowledge of measurement tools (caliper, micrometer etc.)
  • Must be able to distinguish colors
  • Eyesight must be correctable to 20/20 within 10 feet
