Plant Supervisor

Our client, a renowned craft office furniture manufacturer, is seeking a plant supervisor to oversee all operations within the manufacturing facility. This role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities including production, maintenance, quality assurance, and personnel safety. The ideal candidate will have experience specifically in wood manufacturing. This position is full-time and direct hire with the company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operational Management: Oversee plant operations in production, maintenance, quality, and safety. Ensure that manufacturing objectives are achieved efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Strategic Planning: Coordinate with department managers to ensure seamless plant activities, aiming for optimal output and resource allocation.
  • Budget and Cost Control: Implement controls over costs related to operations, manpower, and wages. Monitor plant performance against production and quality standards.
  • Safety and Compliance: Lead the development and enforcement of safety standards and programs to protect all personnel.
  • Facility Management: Oversee the maintenance and upgrade of plant facilities and equipment as needed.
  • Leadership and Development: Provide guidance and training to enhance team performance and achieve the company’s operational goals. Directly manage the production supervisor and other key personnel, handling hiring, disciplinary actions, and annual reviews.
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion and implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance production efficiency and quality.
  • Administrative Oversight: Maintain organizational standards of cleanliness and shop floor organization as daily expectations for all staff.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or at least five years of management experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in a wood furniture manufacturing environment
  • Proficient understanding of budgets, financial statements, and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office and familiarity with AutoCAD or SolidWorks is a preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt, with strong dependability and professionalism.
  • Proven technical and people management skills.
