Job Summary:
The Outer Diameter Grinder will be responsible for operating and maintaining grinding machines used to achieve precise outer diameters on ball screws and related components. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment, a strong understanding of grinding processes, and a commitment to producing high-quality products.
Responsibilities:
Grinding Operation:
Operate outer diameter (OD) grinding machines to achieve specified tolerances and finishes on ball screws.
Set up and adjust machines according to work orders, blueprints, and engineering specifications.
Select and install appropriate grinding wheels and other tooling.
Quality Control:
Measure and inspect finished parts using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.
Ensure parts meet quality standards and adhere to engineering tolerances.
Document and report any deviations or issues to the quality control team.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
Perform routine maintenance on grinding machines, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts.
Troubleshoot and resolve machine malfunctions or production issues promptly.
Keep machines and work areas clean and organized.
Process Improvement:
Assist in the development and implementation of process improvements to enhance efficiency and product quality.
Provide feedback on tooling, materials, and machine performance.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of production data, including quantities produced, time spent, and any quality issues encountered.
Prepare reports as needed for supervisors and management.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety guidelines.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree in machining or a related field is a plus.
Proven experience operating OD grinding machines, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
Strong understanding of grinding processes, machine setup, and maintenance.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
