MACHINE OPERATOR 2nd Shift – DIRECT HIRE

This company offers the potential to learn additional job responsibilities and grow within the organization. Full-Time with Benefits. Pay range is $16.00 - $18.00 based on experience with the opportunity of overtime. $1,000 hiring incentive ($500 at hire and $500 at 180 days) and performance reviews every 90 days. Training on 1st shift for 3-4 weeks before transitioning to 2nd shift.

Job Summary:

The Production Machine Operator will safely control various machines and equipment involved in preparing steel wire for our manufacturing per our customers specifications. 

The Production Machine Operator will safely control various machines and equipment involved in preparing steel wire for our manufacturing per our customers specifications. 

Duties/Responsibilities:
  1. Operates production machinery in accordance with prints and specifications. Assigned machines may include Draw, Pickle Line, Shot Blast, Annealing Furnace, and similar equipment.
  2. Processes the required quantity of coils within established specifications and tolerances per customer work order.
  3. Measures & visually inspects finished parts with precision tools, ensuring compliance with function, quality, and cosmetic specifications.
  4. Maintains logs and records of units produced including a record of errors resulting in rejected or discarded pieces.
  5. Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments and maintenance.
  6. Monitors & reacts to safety alarms. 
  7. Operate a Hi-Lo (forklift truck with a boom) – in house certification provided. 
  8. Operate an overhead crane – in house certification provided. 
  9. Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
  10. Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Required Skills/Abilities: 
  1. Ability to follow written directions.
  2. Work well in a team. 
  3. Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment.
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  5. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Understanding of and the ability to abide by applicable OSHA and environmental regulations.
  7. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  8. Must score 60% or higher on a Bennett Mechanical Test. 
  9. High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  10. No related experience required.
  11. Completion of on-the-job training may be substituted for educational requirements.

Physical Requirements: 
  1. Prolonged periods working on feet, using numeric and hand tools.
  2. Performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending, stooping, and twisting.
  3. Operate Steel Coil Compactor, Banding Wheel, Banding Crimper, and similar equipment.
  4. Must have finger dexterity to use calibers. 
  5. Must be able to Pull wire with 50 pounds of pressure
  6. Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time. 
  7. Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced. 
  8. Must be able to climb a ladder.
