Medical Billing Specialist
Location: Flint, MI
Shift: 8:30am-4:30pm
Pay: $17-$19+ an hour depending on experience

•    Perform accounts receivable collection activities.
•    Follow up on unpaid claims aged over 30 days.
•    Post all insurance payments accurately.
•    Communicate system issues with the Billing Supervisor.
•    Collect on outstanding claims from third-party payers.
•    Work on special billing projects as assigned.
•    Obtain necessary information for billing purposes.
•    Respond efficiently to denials and resubmit information quickly.
•    Document billing status in the practice management system.
•    Document reasons for unresolvable denials and inform Billing Supervisor.
•    Process interactions within departmental guidelines.
•    Respond professionally to patient and third-party payer calls.
•    Maintain professional behavior, attendance, and punctuality.
•    Keep all organizational matters confidential.
•    Perform other revenue cycle management duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
•    High school diploma
•    Minimum of four years' experience in Accounts Receivables
•    Knowledge of medical terminology
•    Knowledge of outpatient billing procedures, CPT coding, ICD9 coding, and completing UB92 and HCFA claim forms
•    Proficient in practice management software, word processing, and spreadsheets
•    Experience in filing claim appeals with insurance companies
Preferred:
•    CCS or CPC certification
•    Some college or technical school training
Skills and Abilities:
•    Maintain confidentiality
•    Resolve conflicts appropriately
•    Make demanding and interpretative judgments
•    General computer proficiency
•    Proficient in medical terminology
•    Type 30 wpm and use a 10-key adding machine
•    Provide excellent customer service
•    Communicate effectively with diverse populations
