BEAMLINE PAINT MACHINE OPERATORAdairsville, GA DIRECT HIRE POSITIONPay: $22/hourly The Beamline Paint Machine Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining the automated paint line for structural steel beams. This role ensures high-quality coating application, equipment reliability, and adherence to customer specifications and safety standards. * Note: This position requires periodic travel to Europe (approximately 6 weeks on and off until the beginning of the new year) for training. Key Responsibilities: Product Quality
Ensure paint thickness, color, and finish meet customer specifications.
Oversee pre-treatment and coating processes to guarantee consistent quality.
Verify proper functioning of baking ovens, degreasing, and rinsing systems.
Conduct hourly thickness checks using the Elcometer.
Perform visual inspection of welds and surface finish for defects.
Production Operations
Operate degreasing and rinsing machines, drying and baking ovens, and paint booths.
Set and adjust paint gun parameters (voltage, airflow) for optimal performance.
Monitor powder usage (approximately 4 bags/hour per line).
Prepare for and perform color changes (1–2 per shift; approx. 30 minutes each).
Prevent powder waste and collect unused or off-spec powder for proper disposal.
Support main operator during production changeovers.
Color Change Procedure
Prepare new powder and coordinate changeover with the team.
Empty powder tanks and clean paint cabin, guns, walls, camera, and high-voltage nozzle.
Clean transfer pipes, cyclone, and reconnect powder collector after 30 minutes for standard colors.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of powder tanks, pumps, injectors, and suction nozzles.
Check compressed air tips, fluidization plates, and venturi systems.
Replace big bags and clean bath filters.
Assist in basic troubleshooting and replacement of spray guns or other components.
Maintain general order and cleanliness of the line; participate in scheduled area cleaning (1 area per team every 2 weeks).
Quality & Documentation
Complete and maintain quality control sheets at the workstation, including:
Degreasing bath titration and temperature
Bath pump settings
Oven temperatures
Powder usage
Perform Tory control checks and record results.
Follow all production orders in SAP.
Access work instructions and safety documentation on SharePoint.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all safety rules and wear required PPE (safety glasses, overalls, masks, earplugs, gloves, sleeves, etc.).
Understand and apply ATEX safety standards (explosion and fire prevention).
Handle chemicals such as Deraclean, Gardabond 4950, Derrastrip FE90, and RAL powders safely.
