MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN- Direct Hire- Louisville, KY.  SUMMARY: The Warehouse Maintenance Mechanics are required to perform maintenance on all parts of the Warehouse.   This includes, but is not limited to ammonia refrigeration systems; floors, walls, and roofs; dock plates and bumpers; overhead doors, powered and manual electrical wiring and fixtures; plumbing; carpentry work; signs; glass repair; heating and air conditioning; warehouse storage racking, electrical-powered mobile equipment; parking lots and fences; gas lines; computer wiring; fire systems; etc.  Mechanics may be exposed to extreme cold in the freezer coolers; heat; loud noise; toxic, electrical-powered mobile equipment; parking lots and fences; gas lines; computer wiring; fire systems; etc.   Mechanics may be exposed to extreme cold in the freezer coolers; heat; loud noise; toxic chemicals; electrical shock hazards; dust; fumes; and sharp objects.  They must have the ability to comprehend manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics, and must be able to work unsupervised. RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Maintenance mechanics are responsible for performing all aspects of maintaining the entire plant facility.  This includes levers, seals, lighting, etc; ammonia refrigeration systems in electrical; natural gas; parts of the telephone and computer systems; heating, ventilating, and air conditions (HVAC); and the entire yard and grounds area
  • Repair and install industrial batteries
  • Painting, both indoors and out
  • Concrete and blacktop work
  • Welding
  • Shop clean-up
  • Safety inspections of hoists, ladders, fire extinguishers, and welders
  • Forming the nucleus of the facility Emergency Response Team (chemical spills)
  • racking repairs
 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
  • Ability to use common mechanics hand tools.
  • Physically able to handle heavy loads such as a full cylinder of ammonia up to 200 pounds.
  • Process the agility necessary to work from ladders, climb onto the roof of the building, and move around in extremely tight and high areas.
  • Must be able to tolerate extremes of heat and cold, when required to work in the freezer, compressor rooms, or outdoors.
  • Must be able to work around ammonia, high voltage electricity, sulfuric acid, and other dangerous and fume-producing materials.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of electro-mechanical systems; must be able to comprehend wiring diagrams, schematics, manuals, etc., and must be able and willing to follow safety regulations such as lockout/tagout and be aware of State and local codes.
