Machinist / CNC Apprentice


  • Produces machined parts by programming, setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.
  • Also, will be required to run manual equipment such as Bridgeport s, lathes and mills.

Machinist / CNC Operator Job Duties include:

  • Assists in operation of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, cut saws and grinders to produce parts as per print.
  • Plan and execute cutting, buffing, grinding of rails as per order requirements.
  • All finished goods cleaned, assembled (if specified), and packaged then ready for shipment.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Must have knowledge of reading prints with the understanding of how to manufacture to the tolerances called out.
  • Check accuracy of work against prints and specifications using Micrometer, Calipers, etc. Completes Inspection Reports as required.
  • Manage/Organize Shop Inventory.
  • Complete monthly physical inventory counts and cycle counts as necessary.
  • Receive in goods and unloads freight both manually or with equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Inspect for damaged goods, verifies quantity and quality of goods.
  • Verifies items received as expected based on purchase order.
  • Package / box parts for shipment to customers. This includes interfacing with a Windows 10 desktop to print packing slips and create shipping labels.
  • Set up Shipments (FedEx/UPS/DHL shipping documents).
  • Process shipment paperwork as requested so that orders are completed and ready for invoicing.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50lbs, bending and twisting and standing for long periods of time.
  • Maintain clean appearance of shop/shop floor/etc.
  • Client will be willing to train the right individual with further machine tool training.


  • Must have HS Diploma.
  • CNC Experience Preferred.
  • Prefer at least 2 years of college or completion of a vocational Associates Degree program in Machining.
  • Position requires firm understanding of Conceptual Skills, Process Improvement, Verbal Communication, Functional and Technical Skills, Controls and Instrumentation, Supply Management, Tooling, Coordination, Inventory Control, Attention to Detail, Judgment, and above average Math Skills.


  • Position will be very hands-on. Person must be willing step in and help where needed.
