MACHINING ENGINEER / CNC PROGRAMMER

SUMMARY 
  • Provide manufacturing engineering and troubleshooting support for existing machinery and processes
  • Designs CNC machining processes and programs to produce required quality and production that exceeds customer expectations
  • To act in a leadership role for all aspects of the job
  • To lead efforts to consistently and continuously improve safety, quality, and productivity 
  • Program CNC machines for maximum efficiency 
  • Recover and repair crashed machinery, run and check parts for dimensions 
  • Use Company Lock-out/Tag-out procedures. Improve cycle times by 50%. Change CNC tooling as necessary in Mills and Lathes

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 
  • Advanced CNC Programming for 3, 4 & 5 axis machines 
  • Design fixtures and cutting tools and interface with the production of the tools
  • Program and troubleshoot Fanuc and Siemens based controls (Licon, Toyoda, Doosan, Mori Seki)
  • Analyze mechanical / operational problems on CNC equipment, plan for, and take corrective action
  • Make necessary corrections and running adjustments to meet quality standards and production requirements
  • Measuring product for quality specifications, using inspection gauges and instruments 
  • Check product for visual defects
  • Use leadership skills to develop, train, and counsel technicians and operators 
  • Repair fixtures, hydraulics, drill heads, gears, bearings, bushings and general department maintenance
  • Replace all department drills, endmills, taps, boring bars, and facemills
  • Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs. Applying knowledge of fabrication, tooling and materials. Conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators
  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying and testing manufacturing methods; conferring with equipment vendors
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing, planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout

REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience programming parts for 3, 4, and 5 axis machining centers
  • Strong CAD/CAM background 
  • In depth knowledge of Machining Aluminum Alloys in the Die Cast Industry
  • Blueprint reading, use of all department inspection equipment, tool changes, offset changes, boring bars, and indicators 
  • Proficient with CMM, air gauging, laser scanning and other technical measuring instruments 
  • Recovery process for E-Stop and/or machine crash conditions
