Are you a metal worker skilled with worked with automatic operators to form steel bars into customer specific forms? Our client in the Grand Rapids area is seeking an Davenport Operator to work as part of a team creating materials for the automotive industry. As an automatics operator you will be safely operating Acme equipment. You will be loading machines with bars, starting the machine, inspecting parts to a conformance, and over time will be able to make adjustments in order to ensure good quality parts are being run. We’ll rely on you to verify the fitment and design specifications of each piece at every step in the fabrication process while working with other fabrication personnel on pieces that require multiple workers to lift and maneuver. This is an ideal position for anyone looking to start out in this industry, and the ideal candidate will receive ample professional training in a variety of support tasks.

Requirements:
- Preferable, but not required: high school diploma or equivalent
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to get hands dirty is a must
- Understanding a manufacturing environment and auto mechanics is helpful
- A team player with excellent communication skills
- Strong commitment to doing quality work
- Work with high energy and a sense of purpose
- Willingness to learn and then apply
- Basic computer skills are required
- Supports all company goals and demonstrates initiative
- Fabricate steel bars and other metal parts according to customer specifications
- Use measuring tools to inspect work
- Fit fabricated steel items

Job Demands:
- Strength – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Environment:
- Due to the environment – the following are required: hearing protection, slip resistant shoes and eye protection.
Work area is an oily environment.
