Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Litigation Paralegal for a Full-Time position in Downtown Raleigh. The ideal candidate will support attorneys throughout all phases of litigation, from the initiation of a case through its resolution. This role requires strong research, communication, and case management skills, as well as the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism. Key Responsibilities:
Case Management:
Assist with all aspects of case preparation, including the organization and maintenance of case files, pleadings, and discovery materials.
Track deadlines, court dates, and case milestones to ensure timely filing and compliance with court rules.
Document Preparation and Filing:
Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, subpoenas, affidavits, and discovery responses.
Prepare and file documents electronically with courts, ensuring compliance with jurisdictional requirements.
Research and Analysis:
Conduct legal research using tools such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, or PACER.
Analyze statutes, regulations, case law, and legal precedents to support attorneys in case strategy.
Discovery Assistance:
Coordinate the discovery process, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, managing document production, and organizing exhibits for depositions or trials.
Summarize depositions, interrogatories, and other discovery materials.
Trial Preparation:
Assist in preparing for trials, hearings, mediations, and arbitrations, including the creation of trial binders, exhibit lists, and witness preparation materials.
Provide on-site trial support, including managing exhibits, taking notes, and coordinating logistics.
Client and Witness Interaction:
Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties to gather information, schedule meetings, and provide case updates.
Coordinate depositions and witness interviews.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and/or a Paralegal Certification from an accredited program.
Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience as a litigation paralegal
Skills and Competencies:
Comprehensive understanding of the litigation process and court procedures.
Proficiency in legal research platforms and case management software.
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all tasks.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Familiarity with legal document management systems (e.g., Relativity, Clio)
