LABORATORY MANAGEROur client has partnered with Qualified to identify the ideal candidate for a key position. They are a leading materials design firm specializing in custom polymers used across a wide range of essential products. With a team of skilled experts and strong, long-term relationships with processors, OEMs, and product designers, they effectively tackle manufacturing and business challenges, delivering sustainable, forward-thinking solutions. SUMMARY:Support customer satisfaction by providing product formulation (color and additives) and samples while exceeding turnaround and on-time delivery expectations. Support the company by continuously improving 1st time quality and reducing nonconformance. Ensure products achieve gross margin and gross profit targets while maintaining a safe and positive work environment in a manner consistent with the mission, principles, and values. The key responsibilities include safety, Staff development /Training, Product Development / Quality Workflow, Quality Assurance and Budget Control. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Allocate resources to complete development and quality tasks (color-matching, samples, and QC checks) in a timely manner
Coordinate customer information (including costing, PDL’s, regulatory documents), and arrange for displays and samples
Provide regular updates and inform sales and management of delays
Develop annual goals, complete performance reviews, and other managerial tasks in a timely manner
Develop staff to ensure goals are meet and provide best opportunities for personal growth
Document employee performance issues and implement disciplinary actions
Participate in managerial tasks and projects
Maintain ISO and other site certifications
Resolve site-related customer cases, audits, and audit findings. Develop corrective and preventive actions and verifies resolutions.
Develop methods to continuously improve 1st time on-quality and reduce non-conformance at site
Maintain equipment in lab to ensure all is in good working order and in-calibration
Manage budget by controlling overtime, supplies, and outside services
Develop a safety culture that prevents accidents and meets all safety targets
Ensure safety audits and safety training are completed in a timely manner
Ensure all employees are following all safety requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
5 years’ experience in related field
Understanding of polymer processing & colorant technologies
Has supervised employees for minimum of 2 years in quality or analytical laboratory environment
Understanding of quality assurance tools including root cause analysis, QMS, and ISO standards
Very good communicator – verbal and written reports
