HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST / PAYROLL & BENEFITS ADMINISTRATOR - DIRECT HIRE

SALARY: 60-70K

GENERAL HR DUTIES:
  • Participate in the new employee onboarding experience
  • Respond to employment verifications and surveys as needed
  • Ensure all required posters are up to date and maintained accurately
  • Good Understanding of Union environment -Labor agreement
  • Knowledge of Certify - expense and travel reimbursement HRIS software
  • Recruiting of Union and Non-Union hourly employees. May be assigned other
  • recruitment initiatives
  • Provide backup of duties for HR Manager

PAYROLL ADMINISTRATION:
  • Responsible for timely, accurate, and compliantly processing biweekly payroll. Audit and process payroll documentation. Process employee data for new hires, changes, additional earning, etc.
  • Process employee Time & Attendance data to payroll and reconcile variances. Approve and release time in the time system
  • Prepare and maintain employee files, assuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality
  • Develops in-depth understanding of payroll software and HRIS. Creates reports on demand
  • Maintains vacation and sick time records

BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION:
  • Assist employees’ questions regarding benefits, claim issues and plan changes. Respond to benefits inquiries on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, and status changes. Enroll employees with carriers and process life status changes
  • Ensure the accuracy of all benefit enrollments and provide vendors with accurate eligibility information. Update HRIS database with new and changing information; ensures accuracy and integrity of information
  • The HR Generalist will help the Controller and HR Manager administer all employee benefit programs such as medical, dental, vision, disability, retirement
  • Effectively interpret FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities. Processes and administers all leaves-of- absences request and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA. Makes recommendation to employee leaves polices
  • Properly record, track, and administer the steps needed to comply with COBRA law and appropriately deliver continuation of employee benefits
  • Completes and submits unemployment request from the Department of Labor and Family Services
  • Organize and deploy employee celebration events and coordinate any employee recognition programs, this may include the wellness program.

RECRUITING DUTIES:
  • Assist the HR Manager with future staffing needs, advertise open positions, keep detailed records about candidates and guide applicants through the selection process
  • Screen and hold preliminary interviews on the phone or in-person interviews
  • Communicate with hiring managers to decide on qualifications for positions

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business specifically in Human Resource Management preferred
  • PHR, SHRM-CP preferred
  • Three to five years of experience in Human Resources
  • One to two years of Union experience
