As a member of the plant leadership team, develop short-, medium-, and long-term strategy for health and safety at the plants
Develops, maintains, and implements written Corporate EHS Programs including policies and procedures, EHS initiatives meeting all applicable state and local regulatory requirements
Audits company facilities to ensure compliance with Corporate EHS directives, local and state regulatory mandates, and required training initiatives
Monitors and manages worker’s compensation for the plant in coordination with the corporate EHS group, as well as injury management
Gathers data to analyze incident and injury trends and makes recommendations and action plans to address and improve those results
Develops and/or deploys EHS training at the site and manages all training records and completion tracking
Chair monthly site safety committee meetings and issues meeting minutes to site leadership along with action items and responsibilities for completion
Oversees all required environmental reporting for the site related to air, waste, wastewater, and stormwater as well as EPCRA reporting
Represents the site for any regulatory inspections and environmental inspections
Maintains all environmental permits for the site including reporting and permit renewal
Tracks and reports on sustainability metrics for the two sites
Drives and maintains EHS metrics for the two sites
Leads incident investigations to arrive at root-cause and corrective action development
5S Implementation including training as needed, auditing, and championing for 5S tools and processes
Evaluates and makes recommendations for site safety equipment and improvements to reduce ergonomic injuries
Participates in EHS Gemba and Kaizens with plant leadership
Drive safety in the laboratories through implementation of best practices
Develop, maintain, and improve plant emergency response plan including annual drills
Qualification Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or relevant area of study (master’s degree is a plus)
Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, CHMM, CIH preferred but not required
5+ years working as an EHS professional in a manufacturing or chemical environment
Computer skills including the use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
Knowledge and skills using EHS reporting software
Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations required
Knowledge and experience managing a behavioral based safety program
Strong organizational and communication skills
Leads by example with a high level of honor and ethics
This position is not remote, and will require being in the plant every day
