ELECTRICIAN AUTOMATION TECHNICIAN

Adairsville, GA

DIRECT HIRE POSITION

Pay: $30 hourly

The Electrician Automation Technician will be responsible for installation, diagnostics, and troubleshooting in a highly automated SPC/LVT flooring manufacturing factory. The client is seeking an experienced mechanical and electrical technician. 

Electrical responsibilities:
  • Leads all troubleshooting and process improvement that would require programming changes to PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, etc. in company facilities.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems. 
  • Read technical diagrams and blueprints.
  • Perform general electrical maintenance. 
  • Troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment to diminish and eliminate downtime. 
  • Inspect transformers, circuit breakers, and other electrical components.
  • Install circuit breakers and other electrical hardware and connects wiring to them.
  • Connects electrical systems to powerlines to provide electricity to the building.
  • Tests electrical systems to ensure proper installation and operation.
  • Inspects electrical systems to determine whether repairs are needed.
  • Replaces conduit and wiring as needed.
  • Replaces circuit breaker as needed.
  • Repair and replace components as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 
  • Adhere to all safety practices.
  • Follow National Electrical Code state and local building regulations. 
  • Assist in training and mentoring electrical and mechanical technicians as needed.

Mechanical responsibilities:
  • Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines.
  • Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.
  • Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
  • Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.
  • Orders and installs replacements parts for machines.
  • Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines. 
  • Repair broken machines quickly and efficiently.
  • Prepares reports documenting work performed.
  • Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance of machines. 
  • Collaborates with product manager or plant manager regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required. 
  • Makes necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with product manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Must be willing to travel internationally for training. 

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Ability to read blueprints 
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring 
  • Mechanically inclined 
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools
  • Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment 
  • Ability to read/interpret/update mechanical and electrical schematics/prints
  • Identification and proper use of tools
  • Working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC)
  • Advanced understanding of e-stop systems 
  • Advanced troubleshooting of electrical components such as PLC's, AC & DC drives, relay logic, single loop controllers, pneumatics & hydraulics
  • Ability to create advanced PLC systems and programs for process and operational control 

Education:
  • Completion of formal apprenticeship and valid electrician's license required 
  • Previous industrial electrician, mechanic (multicraft) experience strongly preferred
