The Electrician Automation Technician will be responsible for installation, diagnostics, and troubleshooting in a highly automated SPC/LVT flooring manufacturing factory. The client is seeking an experienced mechanical and electrical technician.
Electrical responsibilities:
- Leads all troubleshooting and process improvement that would require programming changes to PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, etc. in company facilities.
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems.
- Read technical diagrams and blueprints.
- Perform general electrical maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment to diminish and eliminate downtime.
- Inspect transformers, circuit breakers, and other electrical components.
- Install circuit breakers and other electrical hardware and connects wiring to them.
- Connects electrical systems to powerlines to provide electricity to the building.
- Tests electrical systems to ensure proper installation and operation.
- Inspects electrical systems to determine whether repairs are needed.
- Replaces conduit and wiring as needed.
- Replaces circuit breaker as needed.
- Repair and replace components as needed.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Adhere to all safety practices.
- Follow National Electrical Code state and local building regulations.
- Assist in training and mentoring electrical and mechanical technicians as needed.
Mechanical responsibilities:
- Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines.
- Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.
- Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
- Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.
- Orders and installs replacements parts for machines.
- Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
- Repair broken machines quickly and efficiently.
- Prepares reports documenting work performed.
- Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
- Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance of machines.
- Collaborates with product manager or plant manager regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required.
- Makes necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with product manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Must be willing to travel internationally for training.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Ability to read blueprints
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring
- Mechanically inclined
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools
- Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment
- Ability to read/interpret/update mechanical and electrical schematics/prints
- Identification and proper use of tools
- Working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC)
- Advanced understanding of e-stop systems
- Advanced troubleshooting of electrical components such as PLC's, AC & DC drives, relay logic, single loop controllers, pneumatics & hydraulics
- Ability to create advanced PLC systems and programs for process and operational control
Education:
- Completion of formal apprenticeship and valid electrician's license required
- Previous industrial electrician, mechanic (multicraft) experience strongly preferred
