DIRECTOR OF CONSUMER LENDING
SUMMARYResponsible for managing & directing Consumer Lending teams. This position will oversee processes which consist of loan application underwriting, processing and booking, third-party vendor management, loan origination system configuration, and deploying internal credit risk controls, while allocating appropriate resources. The Director of Consumer Lending will ensure service directives are met while working to uncover additional opportunities to improve service to our internal and external members. This position will also assist the Chief Lending Officer with planning and strategic initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Utilizing data analytics and technical, this role will drive growth and innovation in the consumer lending business line.
  • Provide leadership - they will oversee all areas of consumer lending.
  • Setting performance targets and preparing strategies and tactics that optimize performance of the consumer loan portfolio.
  • Oversee the indirect consumer lending program, including leasing.
  • Recommends and implements changes to drive consistent loan decisions, portfolio performance, and channel growth.
  • Ensures the efficient and effective delivery of consumer loans to members and prospective members, through various direct, indirect, and third-party channels.
  • Develops and implements new consumer loan products and participates in department and organizational projects.
  • Works collaboratively to evaluate the effectiveness and relevance of systems and software to originate loans, evaluate risk, assess potential fraud, appraise credit, and comply with regulatory governance. 
  • Ensure assigned business units are operating efficiently and reliably, are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and rules. Certifies business units have appropriate operating controls to mitigate risk, have established training for potential shortfalls and are performing at a high level.
  • Assist the Chief Lending Officer with planning global strategic business initiatives.
  • Creates a collaborative environment with a culture of accountability.
  • Develops, motivates and retains a high-quality steam, with a focus on training, coaching and developing team-building strength.
  • Build relationships with strategic partners, vendors and internal teams to maximize product penetration and increase efficiencies.
  • Evaluates complicated credit applications, audits decision quality, provides guidance, exercises exception authority, and renders credit decisions.
  • Resolve policy issues identified internally or by examiners. Responds to exam findings in a timely manner.
  • Determine work priorities of subordinate team; schedule work assignments; train and evaluate performance; and provide ongoing recognition, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Resolve complex and sensitive member service issues.
  • Meets consumer loan organizational goals and objectives by implementing new and managing ongoing relationships with third-party vendors and technology providers.
  • Maintain a well-trained, efficient, and effective lending team. Provide necessary leadership, support, and training opportunities.
  • Complete team member performance appraisals and handle performance issues in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Monitor income and expenditures for business lines in conjunction with annual budget.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as directed by management.
  • Occasional travel to other locations, Credit Union functions, and training facilities will be required.
  • Promotes, cross-sells, and markets all products and services at every opportunity.
  • Always present a professional positive image to members and potential members.
  • Will comply with all Bank Secrecy and OFAC requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum Formal Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Experience: Five years of management, preferrable in a financial institution in a Lending capacity.
  • Ability to motivate and coach employees to ensure that team goals are met.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cohesively across multifunctional teams.
  • Must be bondable.
