Job Description
DESIGNERQPT has been engaged in locating a skilled and experienced Design Professional to strengthen and complement our client’s team. Our client has been in business for nearly half a century, producing custom-fabricated components. Designers can expect to work on projects like electrical enclosures, machine guarding, and equipment for the power generation industry. JOB SUMMARY:
Fully participate in and support the Quality System
Report to and work effectively with the Design/Programming Manager.
Process customer requirements/specifications into a design concept using modeling software like AutoCAD and Solid Edge.
Produce concept drawings and component part drawings.
Provide input to team members responsible for creating machine programs.
Correspond with customers on design related issues.
Coordinate design changes/revisions with customers.
Ensure all final design specifications are correctly noted in project documents.
Process and organize design documents to maintain internal records.
Communicate design constraints to customers and management in a professional manner.
Develop and optimize designs for manufacturability, considering material selection, bending allowances, tolerance requirements, and assembly constraints.
Conduct design reviews to identify potential issues or improvements in the design, offering innovative and cost-effective solutions when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Well versed in AutoCAD Software, Solid Edge software, and machine programming software.
Excellent skills in basic mathematics.
Good blueprint reading, drafting, and interpretation skills.
Professional or Academic experience in designing for manufacturing.
Experience in the sheet metal fabrication or a related industry is preferred.
Teamwork and collaboration skills
Previous experience in a similar design position is preferred.
Basic skills in other PC functions, including Microsoft Office.
High school diploma or G.E.D required.
Prior Manufacturing assembly experience is viewed favorably.
