Job Description
Controls Hardware Engineer
Location: Farmington Hills, MI
Job Type: Contract to hire
Compensation: $40-52/hr.
Schedule: Monday through Friday 8a-5p
Description
The Controls Hardware Engineer will provide technical support for the design, development, and implementation of automated manufacturing systems. This inpidual will be responsible for the technical engineering components of the quote, design, build, and so that the project meets specifications and complies with customer expectations.
Tasks/Responsibilities
Develop electrical and controls system design solutions based on customer speciation.
Develop electrical design, schematics, and drawings in AutoCAD and ePlan.
Provide technical support for equipment and panel build.
Responsible for project success whether project leader or as part of a project team.
Report job status to project engineer.
Interpret mechanical design drawings for electrical requirements.
Review supplier products for assembly components per specifications from customer.
Help establish new and maintain existing standards.
Develop electrical bill of materials.
Provide support at the Power up phase for electrical systems.
Competencies
MS Office 2010 (Excel, Word, Outlook) and general computer literacy.

Education, Training, Experience
Requires 8 -10 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Several years of hardware experience with Rockwell and/or Siemens PLCs, or related controls engineering role.
Hardware design such as panel layout or industrial controls required.
Familiar with PLC’s and HMI hardware from Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Mitsubishi.
Motion Controls experience with different types of Servo Drives and Variable Frequency Drives.
Industrial Networks experience such as Ethernet I/P, Profibus, Profinet, DeviceNet, Remote I/O.
Some plant floor experience required.
AutoCAD and ePlan electrical experience necessary.
Familiarity with Industrial standards NEC, NFPA, UL, SCCR requirements, GCCH is a plus.
Organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
