Senior Controls Engineer - DIRECT HIRE - Marysville, MI
  • Salary: 70-85K 
  • Shift: Days- M/F

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:

  • Deeply involved with electrical/hydraulic pneumatic design, peripheral device programming, PLC programming, servo and Robotic applications, machine power-up, debug, power-up and validation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct electrical/hydraulic pneumatic design, peripheral device programming, machine PLC programming, coordinate the machine debug, power-up, and machine validation with build and electrical teams and provide customer documentation as needed.
  • Ability to programming PLC, HMI, Robots, AutoCAD, Motion Control, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Vision Systems and other types of electronic devices.
  • Support Electricians and entire project team including Project Manager, Machine Builders and customer team.
  • Flexibility troubleshooting issues that arise.
  • Detailed-oriented open issues tracking.
  • Travel to install site for install and runoffs with customer when applicable and necessary.
  • Professional management of customer relationship and requests
  • Real-time communication with company management on developments
  • Teach less experienced Controls Engineers and Electricians
  • Work with team members to solve problems and continuously improve processes.
  • Ensure product integrity during design, engineering changes and new product launch processes.
  • Managing own workload by setting priority of work orders.
  • Evaluate company workload for possible outsourcing when needed
  • Manage contract controls engineer’s direction and workload
  • Provide support for onsite installation of equipment at customer’s facility.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Top-notch organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Strong communications skills with the ability to lead through a strong character and with confidence.
  • Ability to maintain a good relationship between the design resources, the company, and customer.
  • Experience and understanding of the automation industry.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting electrical controls.
  • Ability to create or modify electrical schematics using Auto CAD.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding.
  • Use an objective approach toward decision making.
  • Install hardware and wiring.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 5 years’ experience preferred, but other engineering degrees will be considered with applicable experience.
  • Master’s Degree Preferred
