Job Description


CNC Machinist/Programmer 
  1. Machining Activities
    1. Operation of various CNC machines (mills (5-Axis) / turning centers)
    2. Operation of various manual equipment as req’d (Gun drill / ream)
    3. Monitor quality of parts produced
    4. Set-up various jobs in cell (mills – 5-axis and lathes) (can be trained)
  1. Technical Support
    1. Assist in evaluating processes for potential improvements.
    2. Aid in trouble shooting processing issues. Work with the Manufacturing / Engineering Team to re-solve production issues.
    3. Provide support and feedback for upcoming programs. Evaluating potential processes and equipment requirements.
  2. Quality Activities
    1. Inspection of parts being run to ensure quality and documenting appropriately.
    2. Assist with ensuring department is following proper Quality procedures and reporting.
    3. Communicate with Production and QA personnel. 
  3. Additional Support Areas
    1. Help drive efficiency improvements throughout organization.
    2. Aid in maintaining flow of production or areas of need
    3. Ensure area is kept clean and uncluttered (i.e. machines, gauges, tools, etc…)
    4. Ensure area is kept safe and safety rules are followed. (Address any safety issues with appropriate personnel immediately).
    5. Notify Supervisor, Quality and/or Production Manager if gauges and/or fixtures are not in good working condition.
    6. Communicate effectively between departments and within department.
    7. Promote continued growth and training in department.

    7. Strong knowledge of machining, metal-working principles and assembly procedures.
    8. Ability to read and interpret GD&T engineering drawings.
    9. Able to analyze and interpret data and problem solve.
    10. Able to handle multiple tasks and projects.
    11. High School diploma or equivalent.
    12. Minimum (3-10) years of experience in a machine shop environment. 
    13. Experience operating manual and/or CNC machine tools as other shop fabrication equipment.
    14. Experience setting up and running CNC equipment (min. 1-2yrs).
    15. Experience / Knowledge of cutting tools properties for proper selection of tooling, holder, speeds and feeds.
    16. Knowledge of various work-holding methodologies for machining (production and prototype concepts).
    17. Knowledge of hydraulic fixtures, working mechanism and trouble-shooting a plus.
