Job Description


The machinist must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions. The ideal candidate will be able to comprehend complex blueprints, have in-depth knowledge of all traditional machine tools as well as modern CNC machines. Experience with many types of metal, their properties and how to process them is a must.

Responsibilities
  • Setup and operate manual machine tools
  • Setup and operate CNC machine tools
  • Modify G code and write simple CNC programs
  • Perform quality inspections in process and evaluate finished products
  • Understand limits of machining (speeds and feeds) and work holding devices
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
  • Maintain a low scrap/rejected part rate
  • Accurately track time on inpidual jobs
  • Excellent attendance. 7:00-3:30 first shift, 2:30-10:00 second shift, flexible work hours. Overtime and weekend work is typically available and may be required.

Requirements
  • 5+ years experience as a CNC machinist in a machine shop or similar environment
  • Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship program
  • Above average mathematical skills
  • Experience using a variety of machine tools
  • Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, grinders, overhead cranes, etc.)
  • Ability to use all manual inspection tools
  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical documents and drawings
  • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (mask, safety glasses, gloves etc.) when required
  • Ability to work with a team and effectively communicate relevant project information to superiors, resolve or escalates issues in a timely fashion
  • Be in good physical condition

Suggested requirements
  • Professional training and certification
  • GibbsCAM programming experience
  • Understanding of technical drawings with GD&T dimensioning
  • Ability to setup and operate multiple machines in a work cell
  • Availability to move from first to second shift as needed
