Buyer/ Purchasing Agent (Construction Materials)Direct HireHarrisonburg, VA *Position is on site*$65-70k Seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Buyer / Purchasing Agent to join the team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring products from construction suppliers, ensuring cost-effectiveness and timely supply of materials being sold in our retail stores. This role is crucial in maintaining strong vendor relationships and keeping our inventory optimized to meet customer demand. Key Responsibilities
Research, source, and purchase materials, tools, and equipment for the concrete construction market.
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to secure the best pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with sales reps and store management to ensure product availability.
Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors to achieve cost savings and quality improvements.
Analyze market trends and supplier performance to make strategic purchasing decisions.
Work with internal teams to forecast demand and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly.
Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Qualifications
Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in construction materials or a related industry.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to analyze data and make strategic purchasing decisions.
Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite, Navision, SAP, or similar.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
