Financial Accounting Manager Houston, TX Direct Hire

Summary The Manager of Financial Accounting will help lead consolidation and financial accounting activities for the Enterprise. Support the preparation of accurate, timely, and complete financial statements for all companies within the organization. This is a hands-on, process driven, individual contributor role. The successful candidate must be able to independently produce full financial statements, supporting schedules, narrative footnotes, and technical accounting memos. The manager will partner closely with operations and leadership to ensure all activity is properly captured in consolidated financial reporting.
Responsibilities
Perform multi-entity consolidations including eliminations and intercompany activity
Manage consolidated financials for the parent company and related entities
Prepare complete financial statements including Balance Sheet, P&L, and Statement of Cash Flows
Support monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles (internal + external)
Draft and record complex journal entries and close related adjustments
Draft, post, and reconcile journal entries; manage accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, trial balances.
Prepare financial statement footnotes and narrative disclosures consistent with SEC style reporting
Create and update technical accounting memos that clearly explain treatment decisions
Review account reconciliations across multiple entities to ensure accuracy
Support technical accounting research and special projects
Collaborate with operations and leadership teams to ensure activity is reflected in consolidated reporting
Experience
Direct experience independently creating financial statement footnotes and technical accounting memos is required
3+ years corporate accounting in a for-profit environment
Hands on multi-entity consolidation experience
Ability to prepare full financial statements from start to finish
Full cycle close experience including journal entries and reconciliations
Strong understanding of eliminations, intercompany activity, and consolidation structures
Ability to create supporting schedules and draft technical accounting memos
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, concatenate, data validation)
Education
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
Experience in mid-large private companies, public accounting audit firms, or construction environments where disciplined reporting is essential.
Experience producing financial footnotes, supporting schedules, and technical accounting memos will be highly valued
Experience supporting an EPC or construction related organization is strongly preferred
CPA required
