The Insurance Billing Representative will primarily be responsible for performing all billing transactions required including refunds, approving duplicate payment transactions, electronic funds processing, past due invoices and endorsement changes by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Posts insurance payments and audits reimbursements for accuracy
Follows up on claims for non or incorrect payments via appeals and uses the Unpaid Claims Report (UCR) as well as the insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOB)
Keeps manager apprised of all trends/updates/discrepancies with assigned insurance.
Files all electronic and paper claim insurance on a daily basis (rotates with other Insurance Billing Representatives) and makes corrections to claims before sending to insure "clean" claim filing.
Alerts supervisor to any trends in staff errors or problems with electronic filing, with either the company's end or clearinghouse/computer end
Imports all charges for assigned insurance and new/changed insurance information as needed.
Makes certain when entering new/changed insurance information that all applicable visits have been filed as well.
Assists patients and front desks with account questions/problems.
Process all insurance transactions.
Reports process flow issues to the Accounts Receivable Supervisor
Receives payments and posts amount paid to patient account.
Inputs patients on a weekly grid to Clinical Supervisors with questions or corrections needed on charges before filing to insurance.
Emails A/R Supervisor with corrections needed by the physician before filing charges to insurance.
Job Requirements:
Allscripts experience required
Must have ICD 10 experience.
Pediatric billing experience preferred
Ability to work independently.
Knowledge of medical terminology
Skilled in computer applications including MS Word and MS Excel
Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all Health Insurance Privacy and Portability Act (HIPPA) guidelines/regulations
High School Diploma or a GED
