Production Planner

Role and Responsibilities

  • Interface with all vendors to purchase stock and or "build to order" goods to fill customer orders (pricing, lead time, order fulfillment). Many Vendors are overseas, therefore some of this interface work will need to be done in evening hours-during the vendor's regular business hours.
  • Assist Production Manager in planning stock usage based on customer requirements and/or other criteria as provided by management (i.e. prioritization of customers).
  • Place production orders with partner machine shops for order fulfillment (pull/cut/ship).
  • Assist Production Manager in relation to inventory management - scheduling physical inventory counts on a monthly basis and inventory adjustments within QuickBooks.
  • Production Assistant will interface with customers as needed regarding order fulfillment and release scheduling.
  • Provide support to all business functions regarding:
    • Margin Analysis
    • Lead Times
    • Stock Status
    • Shipping Costs/Scheduling Freight


  • BS in Business - Supply Chain/Operation Concentration (preferred not required)
  • Position requires a firm understanding of inventory management and controls, understanding of accounting practices, and ability to communicate clearly with vendors and customers
  • Requires Customer Service Skills to include: Customer Focus, Quality Focus, Problem Solving, Documentation Skills, Listening, Conflict Resolution, Analyzing Information, and Multitasking.
  • Good typing skills, Above average Math skills, Computer skills, Accounting Skills (QuickBooks preferred), Microsoft Office Suite, Sales

At times, position will be very hands-on. Person must be willing to step in and help where needed.
